The remote little settlement of Solitaire does justice to its name in more than one way. As a stop-over on your tour of south- Solitaire Country Lodge Namibia western Namibia and on the way to Sossusvlei it is a must. The nostalgic general dealer offers home-baked bread and apple pie, and, of course, drinks, fuel, tyre repair.

Solitaire Country Lodge located on road C14 between Maltahohe and Walvis Bay and offers 25 en-suite bedrooms, each with two single beds or double bed and air-conditioning. All rooms face the central courtyard with the huge swimming pool in the centre. Camping, bungalows and limited meals are on offer in an environment with a unique character and unsurpassed hospitality. Swimming pool is available.

Solitaire Country Lodge is only 83 km from Sesriem, Sossusvlei and is the ideal base from where to explore the Naukluft mountains. It is the perfect stopover for self-driving guests.
Scenic drives and spectacular sunsets from the top of the escarpment can be taken through Spreetshoogte or Remhoogte passes.

A general motor repair garage with emergency workshop is available as well.

Dromedary Camel Activity

There are twelve camels based at Solitaire Country Lodge. Some camels have a saddle that can carry two adult persons at a time, others take one. The camels are lead by their handler and guide on lodge property. The camels can be booked at any time of the day when available or bookings can be made in advance.
The following options are available:

Sundowner ride – Guests go on a casual walk in the late afternoon while the sun starts drawing long shadows over the open landscape. After approximately 2 to 3 hours, guests stop at Sundowner Hill to enjoy refreshing sundowners and snacks.

Picnic lunch – Perfect option for guests who choose something out of the ordinary. Enjoy a short camel ride to a secluded tree on the property where a sumptuous lunch awaits you. The duration of the activity is 2 hours, guests return either on the camels or by open vehicle to the lodge.

Short Rides – For guests only stopping over or just interested in a try.

Children between 0 – 4 years and accompanied by their parents are free of charge.
