Safari Lodge Kasane |
Mowana Safari
Lodge, spectacularly sited on
the Chobe River, close to Chobe National Park, yet easily accessible by air, stands at the point where the four countries, Botswana,
Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe, meet. Mowana, meaning 'baobab tree' in Setswana
, is created around one of these trees which dominates the reception area. The
Mowana Safari Lodge was the 'bush' White House during President Clinton's
visit to Botswana in 1998. The estate, with its diverse leisure activities and
its outdoor swimming pool set against the ever-changing backdrop of the Chobe
River, provides a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy this fascinating
world. The 9-hole golf course offers a great setting for golf enthusiasts.
Mowana Safari lodge is a large hotel style lodge, popular with big groups and
conferences, but may not suit those seeking a more traditional and intimate
safari experience.
Rooms: Recently completely upgraded, African furnishings and fabrics
have been used throughout, and double beds are draped with canopy mosquito
nets. The bathrooms feature individually hand-painted basins.
Dining: You can enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast on the Chobe River
on board of the Mmadikwena River Cruiser.
Experience a traditional evening at the African Village, where you will savour
the true delights of African cuisine at its best while the local tribal
dancers perform for you under the African sky as a blazing fire dances before
your eyes.
