Fifty four years ago an English doctor and his wife left India and arrived at the village of Knysna. Their intention, to build a house and raise their family. The Welbedacht Valley enchanted them so, that it was here, on a large plot of land "The Croft" was built. Thirty four years later Di and Mike Lawson accompanied by their three children arrived at the town of Knysna with similar intentions. By 1995, the family were all married and left home, and Di and Mike found themselves the sole residents of this delightful old house. Being reluctant to leave their home or the area, they decided on an alternative, to share their house with paying guests.
This decision lead to extensive alterations and the following December Croft House opened its doors to the public. For Di and Mike, the greatest joy of this large property had always been the lovely grounds with dozens of established trees, home to a multitude of bird species. In altering the bedrooms every guest can now enjoy the gardens likewise.....
